Starting from this Monday, Tencent's WeChat payment officially landed in Europe, opening the door to overseas market. The number of current WeChat users is close to 1 billion, and they are mainly China based users. This move will allow Chinese tourists in Europe to directly use wechat as a method payment.
Tencent company is really up for the challange, directly competing with Alibaba, that started in early 2015 to settle in the European market with his Alipay, two tigers are off to the battle. However, for the users, the WeChat payment only brings convenience.
According to Reuters reports from July 11th, WeChat overseas business executives revealed that Tencent has already applied for payment license in Malaysia. If approved, Malaysian users will be able to bind their local bank accounts with WeChat payment, and will be able to pay for goods and services in RM.
