It was a humid evening at the end of August 2014 when I landed in Dalian with my younger brother. My older brother was already waiting in the airport with two flowers in his hand; I still have one of those flowers in my room. 

Августовским вечером 2014 года я с моим младшим братом прилетели в Далянь, в аэропорту нас ждал наш старший брат, в руках у него было два цветка. Этот цветок до сих пор хранится в моей комнате.

It was so blissful living with my beloved brothers these four years, and of course, the sweetest time of life was the months Mom stayed with us here. She is love incarnate.

4 года с моими братьями в Даляне, и месяц, когда наша мама приезжала к нам было лучшим временем.

Basically, I see myself as a mechanical engineer, as I've been studying and working in this area for fourteen years, starting from a bachelor’s degree, working for oil industries, and finally undertaking a doctoral degree. However, I've had the chance to create in other areas: I’ve been playing guitar and singing for fifteen years, as well as recording, writing and producing music; I’ve spent two years learning photography and exploring my passion for studying psychology. Yet, I never claim to be a musician, photographer, or psychologist.

В принципе, я считаю себя инженером-механиком, учился и проработал в этой области 14 лет, закончив бакалавриат, работал в нефтяной промышленности, и сейчас наконец учусь в докторантуре. Но у меня были вполне реальные шансы реализовать себя в другом: я играл на гитаре и пел 15 лет, записывал, писал и продюсировал музыку. Я два года занимался фотографией и изучением психологии. Но я не считаю себя ни музыкантом, ни фотографом, ни психологом.

After I settled down here in Dalian, I start playing, singing and participating in different events at Dalian University of Technology. I’ve also participated in international cultural festivals in Dalian, Xi'an, Chongqing, and Panjin, as well as several New Year’s and graduation parties in universities, and some charity events in Dalian.  A few times, I was even invited as a special guest onto CCTV and performed there, for example, during the famous show from CCTV3, "开门大吉".

В Даляне я начал играть, петь и участвовать в разных мероприятиях, организованных в Университете технологий в Даляне. Я также участвовал в международных культурных фестивалях в Даляне, Сиане, Чунцине и Панджине, на новогодних и выпускных вечеринках в университетах и на благотворительных мероприятиях в Даляне. Несколько раз меня даже приглашали в качестве специального гостя на CCTV, где я выступал, на знаменитом шоу с CCTV3, «开门大吉».

From the beginning, Vincent (an American banjoist and my best friend ever) and I made a small band and named it "Room 333" after my dorm room where we practiced, though we later changed it to "$ound merchant$". During those years many people joined us to play, such as Vladimir, Veronica, Hadi, Anzar, and Margaret. Afterwards we didn't have much time to practice as a band, and some left China while others formed new bands. Later Vincent and Elena (The Princess, a Spanish guitar player and singer) formed another band together, and they are still working hard on it today.

Я и мой лучший друг Винсент создали небольшую группу и назвали ее «Room 333» позже мы изменили название на «$ ound merchant $». За эти годы к нам присоединилось много людей: Владимир, Вероника, Хади, Анзар и Маргарет. У нас не было много времени, чтобы тренироваться как группа, кто-то покинул Китай, кто-то создал свою группу. Позже Винсент и Елена   создали новую группу вместе, и они все еще работают над этим сегодня.

I believe the future of music in China is so bright and that China will become one of the main music powers in the near future. China has all the elements which are needed to develop the music industry: huge investments, interested people, a very large music market, innumerable talent, rapid growth in new technologies and AI which definitely has a direct impact on this business, varied and modern infrastructures, and finally a training system that encourages learning music from an early age. Most importantly though, music requires love and this is the most significant factor for growth in this field.

I was working with James (my great Chinese friend) who helped me a lot, and being with him was an influential time for me here. He afforded me great opportunities here, and we worked with some talented and prominent young students who later became famous on TV. Furthermore, we were collaborating in many "talent scouting shows" in Dalian.

Я работал с Джеймсом (моим китайским другом), который мне очень помог. Он открыл мне большие возможности здесь, мы работали с талантливыми молодыми студентами, которые стали известны по телевизору. Кроме того, мы сотрудничаем с «шоу талантов» в Даляне.

In addition, I think the nature of Dalian turns everybody into a photographer, and I believe it drives me and everyone else to be ready always to capture a novel scene. 

Я думаю, Далянь - это то место, где каждый чувствует себя фотографом.

All things that I need for photography are readily available here: islands and ocean, beaches and coasts, forests, skyscrapers and urban designs, bridges, temples, mountains, and hills, winter skiing and summer sunbathing by  the ocean. There are few cities in the world like this! 

Здесь есть все, что нужно для хорошего снимка: остров, море, пляжи, лес, городские пейзажи, замки, горы, холмы, катания на лыжах зимой т.д. Во всем мире есть только несколько таких городов.

Nobody can know the future for certain, but for now, I'm so comfortable to be here among my dear brothers and great friends, and I truly feel that this is my first home. 

Никто не может знать, что будет в будущем, но я знаю одно, сейчас мне очень комфортно с моими братьями и друзьями, и чувствую себя как дома.

In order to know Dalian, one must live here and engage with the local culture, food, the beautiful combination of gorgeous nature and modern city structures, and of course the people of Dalian, who clearly try to send positive feelings to us foreigners, in the same way a Chinese love song reaches across cultures and moves different people.

Чтобы узнать Далянь, нужно жить здесь изучить культуру, кухню, узнать людей Даляня, которые очень дружелюбны и приветливы.
