奥米迪

It was a humid evening at the end of August 2014 when I landed in Dalian with my younger brother. My older brother was already waiting in the airport with two flowers in his hand; I still have one of those flowers in my room. 

在2014年8月末的一个潮湿的夜晚，我和弟弟降落在大连，我们的哥哥手捧两束鲜花，早早的在机场准备迎接我们。

Living with my beloved brothers these four years was so blissful and, of course, the sweetest time of life was when Mom stayed here with us for some months. She is the personification of love.

与兄弟们朝夕相处的四年时光是幸福的，不过，最幸福的时光还是要属妈妈在大连的那几个月，要知道，妈妈永远都是爱的化身。

Basically, I see myself as a mechanical engineer as I've been studying and working in this field for fourteen years, starting from a bachelor’s degree, working for oil industries, and finally undertaking a doctoral degree. However, I've had the chance to create in other fields too: I’ve been playing guitar and singing for fifteen years, as well as recording, writing and producing music; I’ve spent two years learning photography and exploring my passion for psychology. Yet, I never claim to be a musician, photographer, or psychologist.

严格意义来讲，我把自己定位成机械工程师，从大学开始，毕业后在石油工业就业，再到后来取得了博士学位，我已经在这一领域学习工作了近14年。除此之外，我还有一些其他的爱好，比如，在音乐方面，我弹吉他唱歌有15年之久了，同样也会自己作词作曲进行一些创作，花了两年时间学习摄影及心理学。尽管如此，我从不称自己为音乐家、摄影师或者是心理学家。

After I settled down here in Dalian, I started playing, singing and taking part in different events at Dalian University of Technology. I’ve also participated in international cultural festivals in Dalian, Xi'an, Chongqing, and Panjin, as well as several New Year’s and graduation parties in universities, and some charity events in Dalian.  A few times, I was even invited as a special guest onto CCTV and performed there, for example, during the famous show from CCTV3, "开门大吉".

定居大连后，我开始参加理工大学组织的各类活动，同时，还参与了在大连、西安、重庆、盘锦举办的国际文化节，以及各大高校的新年、毕业晚会，另外还参加过几次大连的慈善活动。甚至中央电视曾邀请我作为特邀嘉宾，参加了CCTV3的“开门大吉”。

Since the beginning, Vincent (an American banjoist and my best friend ever) and I made a small band and named it "Room 333" after my dorm room where we practiced, though we later changed it to "$ound merchant$". During those years many people joined us to play, such as Vladimir, Veronica, Hadi, Anzar, and Margaret. Afterwards, we didn't have much time to practice as a band, and some left China while others formed new bands. Later Vincent and Elena (The Princess, a Spanish guitar player and singer) formed another band together, and they are still working hard on it today.

最开始时，我和Vincent一起，组成了我们的第一支乐队，起名叫“Room 333”，后来改名叫"$ound merchant$"，那时有很多人跟我们一起玩音乐，比如Vladimir，Veronica，Hadi，Anzar还有Margaret，后来由于种种原因，我们没有时间练习，还有些朋友离开了中国，而另一些人则组建了新的乐队。再后来，Vincent和Elena组成了另一只乐队，至今仍在努力经营着。

I believe the future of music in China is so bright and that the country will soon become one of the main music scenes. China has all the elements which are needed to develop the music industry: huge investments, interested people, a very large music market, innumerable talent, rapid growth in new technologies, and AI (Artifical Intelligence) which definitely has a direct impact on this business, along with varied, modern infrastructures and a training system that encourages learning music from an early age. Most importantly though, music requires love and this is the most significant factor for growth in this field.

我深信中国的音乐前景是十分光明的，中国将很快成为重要的音乐发源地之一。中国拥有发展音乐产业所需要的所有因素，巨大的投资，感兴趣的人们，庞大的音乐市场，无数有才能的音乐人，快速增长的新技术，以及普及的人工智能，这一切都对中国的音乐行业发展有着很大的影响。最重要的是，音乐需要音乐人倾注爱在里面，这也是音乐能在中国迅速成长的最重要的原因之一。

I was working with James (my great Chinese friend) who helped me a lot, and being with him was an influential time for me here. He offered me great opportunities and we worked with some talented and prominent young students who later became famous on TV. Furthermore, we were collaborating in many "talent scouting shows" in Dalian.

我与一位名叫James的中国朋友一起共事，这是一位对我影响很大，并且为我提供了许多帮助的朋友。他为我提供了一个很好的机会，让我有机会与才华横溢的年轻学生一起工作，后来我们在电视上出名了，与大连电视台的“人才发掘秀”节目多次合作。

In addition to this, I think the nature of Dalian turns everybody into a photographer. I believe it drives me and everyone else to be always ready to capture a novel scene. 

大连的美景把在这里的每个人都变成了一位摄影师，随时随地的拿出相机捕捉一个精彩瞬间。

All things that I need for photography are readily available here: islands and ocean, beaches and coasts, forests, skyscrapers and urban designs, bridges, temples, mountains, and hills, winter skiing and summer sunbathing by the ocean. There are few cities in the world like this! 

你所需要的所有素材这里都能找到，岛屿和海洋，沙滩和海岸，森林，摩天大楼，桥梁，庙宇，冬季的滑雪场，夏季的日光浴，这世界上不会再有这样的城市了吧。

Nobody can know the future for sure, but at the moment, I'm so comfortable to be here among my dear brothers and great friends, and I truly feel that this is my first home. 

没有人能够预知未来，但此刻，我很高兴能在大连与我的兄弟朋友在一起，让我觉得这是一个真正的家。

In order to know Dalian, one must live here and engage with the local culture, food, the beautiful combination of gorgeous nature and modern city structures, and of course the people of Dalian, who clearly try to send positive feelings to us foreigners, in the same way a Chinese love song reaches across cultures and moves different people.

为了真正的了解大连，你需要生活在这里，与当地的文化、美食、自然风景及现代都市结合在一起，当然还有这里热情好客的大连人，通过这一切，才能将不同的文化完美的融合在一起。
